Aaron J Woolley
Solo · Based in Perth
About this act
Aaron J Woolley plays easy listening that still gets people up, drawing on Paul Simon, Cat Stevens, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Dire Straits and Eric Clapton, with roots blues, folk and country folded in. On stage he switches between a Taylor acoustic, metal bodied resophonic guitars and electric to change the mood, sometimes with very light backing tracks, sometimes just guitar, voice and a stomp box for the beat. His fingerstyle and bottleneck playing are well respected around Australia. He founded eighties classic rock band ICE and formed cabaret band Kokomo, which became the resident act at Burswood Casino and the Hillarys Marina cabaret lounge. He also played with The Beatnix and, back in the seventies, The Tremeloes. He moved to the UK in 1994, gigged solo across Britain and Europe, and returned home in 2001. He teaches guitar four days a week from his home studio.
