About this act
Ten pieces, five countries, and a horn and percussion section that does not let up. Ah Hum are an Adelaide Afro-Cuban dance band drawing on Tito Puente, Poncho Sanchez, the Afro-Cuban All Stars and Mongo Santamaria, with some of their own material in the mix. Members come from Chile, Japan, Bolivia, Colombia and Australia, with Chi Thapa on bass and Brendan Fitzgerald on piano. Guest musicians and dancers join them depending on the booking. The grooves are mambo, rumba and cha cha cha, driven by brass, saxophone, piano and bass, and the whole thing is built to get a room off its chairs. They play private parties, weddings, corporate events and venues.
