Alex Glumac's line is that being an MC is more than just holding the mic, and the run sheet is where he proves it. Once booked, he meets the couple early and builds the blueprint for the reception, then works it through with venue managers and the other entertainers so nobody is guessing on the night. He knows the traditions of a good many cultural weddings, which matters when the order of the night has to carry them. When something goes sideways he recalibrates, his word for it, and reshuffles on the spot without the couple hearing about it. Weddings are the bulk of it. But he has hosted awards nights, corporate events and fundraisers since 2009, taking on Q and As, auctions, live segments and running commentary, and he researches each brief before turning up.
