Ali

Ali is a Papua New Guinea-Australian singer and songwriter whose sound comes from a fair bit of moving around. She has lived in eight countries, and that shows up in her writing more than in any single genre label. She taught herself guitar and started writing songs early. Ask her what genre she plays and she won't give you a straight answer, which feels deliberate. Tracy Chapman, Bob Marley, Whitney Houston, Jack Johnson and D'Angelo all sit somewhere in the mix.
