Accordion, guitar and bass give Alpen Musikanten their Alpine folk sound. This Melbourne trio plays Oberkrainer music, bringing the polkas and waltzes of Central Europe to Australian dance floors. Vocals move between Slovenian and German, with Croatian and Italian songs in the mix.
Traditional dress is part of the performance. Their music draws on the folk traditions of Slovenia, Austria and Germany, reaching into northern Italy and Croatia too.
