Amaidí means nonsense in Irish, and the name is fair warning. This Brisbane four piece plays fast trad tunes from Ireland, Scotland and Australia with a modern kick: guitar and vocals from Lachlan Baldwin, fiddle from Davydd McDonald, banjo and plenty else from Sam De Santi, and Jack Meimaris driving accordion through stomp boxes and effects until it hits like a bass rig. Sets mix originals with traditional numbers picked to move a floor, and nobody needs an Irish grandparent to enjoy them. Built for pubs, festivals and weddings where dancing is the whole point.
