Baba Noir is a cult favourite selector in Naarm and one of the more reliable people to hand a dance floor to. The record bags are deep and unusual: Turkish-Anatolian pop, psych, funk and folk sitting alongside contemporary Middle Eastern dance floor cuts, much of it rare vinyl. He stays closely connected to the music of his mother country and recontextualises traditional instrumentation into something that genuinely works in a club. Warm, dusty grooves turned into burners.
