Formed in Melbourne's Latin quarter in 1993, Bad Boys Batucada fuses Brazilian rhythm with reggae, funk, hip hop and rock. Members drawn from Brazil, Australia, France and Chile play Brazilian percussion instruments alongside drum kit, turntable and vocals, building a sound of their own rather than a straight traditional set. Guest drummers, percussionists, vocalists and capoeiristas join the lineup from time to time, and improvisation is built into every performance alongside its arrangements.
