Beatnik Empire started in Brisbane in 2015 as a passion project between Matt Collingwood on vocals and acoustic guitar and Pete Boase on bass. Wayne Smith came in on lead guitar and Richard Savage on drums, and the four piece version is a noticeably bigger thing than what came before it. One punter at a warm up gig reckoned the new lineup was like adding a jet engine. Covers, played by a band that clearly enjoys itself.
