Ben J. Carter has been playing foot-stomping bottleneck slide guitar around Victorian venues, events and festivals since 2015. The one man band show combines acoustic guitar, foot stomp and percussion, moving from soaring slide and blues hollers into folk ballads. His reinterpretations of old time country blues pay tribute to Skip James, Lightnin' Hopkins, Fred McDowell and Robert Johnson, alongside a swag of his own folk songs. Blues and Roots Radio Canada called his original material superb, and Blues Magazine in the Netherlands described his debut album, These Winters They Howl, as remarkable and exceptionally beautiful.
