Black Fedora Jazz is a jazz band from Adelaide, South Australia.
A quintet out of the Adelaide suburbs, built around vocals, saxophone, piano, guitar and percussion, with Kristine Karahalios fronting the group alongside Nigel Bourn, Michael Boehm, Peter Torr and Satomi Ohnishi. Jazz standards form the backbone, mixed with soul tunes and reworked newer songs and a dash of swing. Corporate audiences up to a thousand strong have been part of the workload, and two consecutive sold-out years at the Mount Barker HOOT Jazzfest sit among the credits. Lounge bars, cafes and wedding receptions are where the band is most at home, running from dinner music through to dance sets built on swing, soul and funk.
