Blue Velvet Jazz is a jazz band from Sydney, New South Wales.
This jazz act has taken its 1920s-themed sets to Kirribilli House, the Art Gallery of NSW and the harbourside stage of the Sydney Opera House, as well as boutique breweries and corporate offices in the CBD. Blue Velvet Jazz scales from a duo featuring female vocals and piano up to a sextet with guitar, double bass, drums and saxophone added in, plus purely instrumental packages for a different kind of event. Jazz standards make up the set, from Fly Me to the Moon through to Georgia and The Girl from Ipanema. The band brings its own sound and basic lighting, asking only for space and easy access to power, and performs outdoors only under full cover. Sydney-based, travelling up to 100 kilometres, and covered by public liability and indemnity insurance.
