Bushland Boogie
Based in Brisbane
About this act
Bring a bush dance to Brisbane and you need a caller who can talk people through it. Bushland Boogie have Maggie, and she'll get the blokes with two left feet moving inside a song or two. A typical night mixes the traditional dances with party numbers the kids know, the Nutbush and the Hokey Pokey among them, plus waltzes, barn dances, gypsy taps and a bit of rock and roll. Between dances the songs stretch from Australiana into Slim Dusty, Paul Kelly, Men at Work and Cold Chisel, with country from the Eagles, John Denver and Willie Nelson. They work as a duo or trio, roving or on stage, and they're a good fit for schools, festivals, retirement villages and Aussie themed nights.
