Seven-string acoustic and electric guitars, built specially by luthier Gary Rizzolo, give this solo Tasmanian guitarist's playing an extra bass string and a wider tonal range than a standard instrument allows. The original material draws on jazz, latin, folk and finger-style blues, with echoes of classical technique from early training in piano and self-taught guitar. Beyond solo performance, the guitarist has worked as an ABC scriptwriter, had music used in the ABC documentary series Australian Story, and wrote and performed the score for the ABC Tasmanian drama The Town That Died. Live credits include the National Folk Festival, the Ten Days on the Island festival, and a solo piece composed for the state funeral of a former Tasmanian premier, alongside performances shared with Tommy Emmanuel, Olivia Newton-John, David Gates and Don Burrows. The music has also toured internationally, with a particular focus on Japan.
