Cathy Freeman is a former sprinter who won Olympic gold in the 400 metres at Sydney 2000, after lighting the Games' cauldron. Her athletics career also included world titles and Commonwealth Games gold medals. Following competition, she co-founded a foundation supporting educational opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
