Chaika is a folk band from Sydney, New South Wales.
Six musicians make up this Sydney ensemble, working across clarinet, violin, piano, double bass, guitar, accordion, vocals and percussion to build a sound that draws on the Balkans and contemporary jazz . Vocal harmonies weave through instrumental passages , giving the set a cinematic, layered feel with chamber-music textures. Festival dates have included opening for the Dorrigo Folk and Bluegrass Festival in 2014 and closing the Jungle Love Festival in 2016.
