Chris Duncan and Catherine Strutt

Traditional Scottish fiddle and piano music has been the shared focus of Chris Duncan and Catherine Strutt since they began performing together in 1990, working out of Newcastle. Fiddle from Duncan and piano from Strutt carry slow airs, jigs and reels through concerts, dances, festivals and Scottish country dance balls across Australia and overseas, including seasons in the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Japan. Their first recording together, Fyvie's Embrace, sold more than fourteen thousand copies and won the ARIA for Best World Music Album in 2000. A second album, The Red House, followed with ABC Classics in 2006, and a third, Carriages at Midnight, arrived in 2015 to mark twenty five years of playing together. Their work also includes Scottish wedding ceilidhs and the Chaotic Ceilidhs events in Sydney.
