Ventriloquism and stand-up in the same show is a rarer combination than you'd think, and CJ Finley has taken his version of it around the world: theatre headline spots on luxury cruise liners, tours at home in Australia and events overseas, thousands of shows deep. The puppet routines are only half of it. Volunteers from the audience get turned into human puppets and become the stars of the show, and between routines come tall tales from his early years on the club circuit in Lancashire, in the north of England, the kind of rooms that teach a comic to win over a hard crowd.
