Dan James plays acoustic around Melbourne with a smooth voice and an unhurried style, the sort of thing that sits well behind a room early in the night. But he can lift it. When the vibe is there, strong vocals and a run of crowd-pleasing songs will fill a dance floor. He's played plenty of pubs and cafes and just as many private events, and he reads which one he's at.
