Dezzie D And The Stingrayz

Desley Done fronts this Brisbane band with a straightforward aim: keep the rhythm and blues of the 40s, 50s and 60s sounding the way it was meant to. Formed in 2013, the Stingrayz have become festival regulars on the strength of tight grooves and loud horns, mixing originals with songs from the early blues, jazz and R&B years. Two formats are on offer, a five piece with tenor sax, and the seven piece Fever 7z that adds baritone sax and trumpet. The players come out of the Jazz Music Institute, the Queensland Conservatorium, QUT and the Australian National University, and several of them teach. Local, interstate and international festival stages, all with the same sound.
