Dire Straits Tribute

Sultans of Swing and Telegraph Road sit at opposite ends of what Dire Straits could do, and this Adelaide show covers the ground between them. Glenn Suthorpe leads it, building the set around Mark Knopfler's guitar tone and phrasing rather than around a costume or an impression. The songs do the heavy lifting: long storytelling numbers, that clean fingerpicked sound, and the ones everybody in the room already knows the first bar of. It suits a listening crowd as much as a function, and it works for people who followed the band from the start as well as anyone hearing the catalogue properly for the first time.
