Django Blackheart

Blues and roots anchor this four-piece, led by Tom Harpo Walker on guitar, harmonica and vocals. Doug Brown adds a second guitar, Mitch Mitchell holds down bass, and Pedro Mello handles drums and vocals. Original material rather than covers makes up the set, and the band's debut album, Blues Roots and Other Fruits, landed at number two on the airplay charts in both Australia and the UK. That combination of original songwriting and a tight rhythm section has carried the band across festival stages and smaller venues alike, with the line-up built to scale a performance up for a bigger room or hold an intimate one together. The sound leans on traditional blues structure while still making room for the band's own material to lead.
