Elysia

Elysia Jazz Duo pairs Elysia Murphy on vocals with Steve Hensby on guitar and vocals, working out of Perth. Their repertoire runs across swing, bossa, bop, ballads and blues, plus original compositions, and includes songs sung in French and Portuguese with improvised passages worked into a number of them. Murphy brings a smooth, soulful vocal line with a wide range, while Hensby, a Berklee graduate, plays simultaneous bass lines and comping under his guitar work and adds vocal harmonies. Between the two of them the duo covers a jazz songbook well beyond the usual standards list.
