Encoda Ensemble

Five multi-instrumentalists make up the Encoda Ensemble, touring from the En'coda project's original film work into corporate events, festivals, gala openings and wellness bookings. Tenille Bentley plays shruti box, native drone flute, bowls, rocks and gong alongside lead vocals; Julian Silburn takes crystal didjeridu, gong, handpan, stick and rainsticks; January Kultura plays guitar, gourd drum, bowls, hoop drum and shakers; Camille Lalanne leads on cello tuned to both 432 and 440 hertz; and Emani Lea moves across janggu drum, oud drum, jaw harp, overtone flute and mbira. Over thirty instruments in total build what the group describes as a deep listening, whole-of-body musical experience drawing on both Australian and New Zealand indigenous traditions. The related En'coda film has picked up awards at the International Sound Awards in Prague, the Munich Music Video Awards and the Euro Music Video Awards.
