Brass and improvised percussion drive Mighty Duke & The Lords' calypso show. The Melbourne group pairs tropical rhythms with songs full of odd characters and double meanings, delivered in linen suits and cruise ship inspired costumes. Its members bring backgrounds in ska, roots and independent music to the band. The result is a deliberately theatrical performance, with horns out front, percussion underneath and humour woven through the songs rather than reserved for the gaps between them.
