Gospo Music

Gospo Music brings gospel, jazz and contemporary influences together in an Adelaide vocal ensemble directed by Charmaine Jones. The ensemble brings together fourteen singers supported by instrumentalists, with arrangements drawing on both African rhythms and Western harmony. Jones’ background in jazz study informs programmes that move between hymns, spirituals and newer music. The ensemble has developed themed concerts and worked with school students, including an Adelaide Town Hall project for the 2011 Fringe. Its repertoire is chosen around the audience and the purpose of each performance.
