Xenos

Hobart band Xenos performs music associated with the Balkan Roma, combining saxophone, traditional instruments, strings and percussion. Its musicians include Anne Hildyard, Rob Bester and Phillip Griffin, with different drummers contributing to the ensemble. The group has spent periods performing in Europe and Melbourne before returning to Hobart. Festivals, dance events, schools and weddings form part of its work, with repertoire shaped by the rhythms and melodies of Macedonia and neighbouring musical traditions.
