Emu Nomads is a roving duo featuring Elia and Esta with giant emu puppets. The characters combine puppetry, dance and comic interaction, moving between graceful moments and deliberately awkward humour.
Presented by Dancing Dragon Puppet Theatre, the Melbourne act draws on the work of Emma Pryse and Stefanie Robinson. Their backgrounds include physical theatre, visual arts, community performance and puppet-making. They have appeared at festivals in Australia, New Zealand and Europe, with the emus providing a moving focal point for audiences in outdoor event settings.
