About this act
Cuban Folkloric Company is a Sydney ensemble presenting traditional and contemporary Afro-Cuban music, dance and stories. Directed by Sergio Miguel Sieres Morales, the company brings together Cuban, African and local artists. Its work explores Cuban culture from African influences through to popular urban dance, drawing on Yoruba traditions preserved in Cuba. The repertoire includes Orisha dances, Comparsa de la Chancleta and contradanza. Singing, percussion and movement contribute to a group presentation grounded in cultural research and performance.
