Gentle Ben and His Shimmering Hands came out of the remnants of two bands: the sultry rock and roll of Gentle Ben and His Sensitive Side, and the swamp-rock racket of SixFtHick. New songs, new focus, and an album called BRUT that refuses to sit in any one genre. The live show is blistering. Their own writing about the band reads like a knife being drawn, which tells you plenty about the tone.
