Govinda Abbott

Trumpet, and a long road to get here. Govinda Abbott started jazz early at Newtown School of Performing Arts, went on to study jazz performance at the Sydney Conservatorium, then completed a Masters in jazz and pedagogy in East Germany, living and working there as a musician for fifteen years. Along the way came a stint as head of Brass and Woodwind at the Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory. The playing covers traditional and contemporary jazz in small groups and big bands, with a rich Latin programme and plenty of funk sitting alongside the standards. Recent guest appearances include the Galapagos Duck. Now based in the northern rivers, and no fuss on the day: all the PA gear is provided.
