GRACE BARBE AFRO-KREOL

Grace Barbe Afro-Kreol draws its sound from the layered cultural traditions of the Seychelles and the wider Indian Ocean. Grace sings in English, Kreol and French, and plays guitar and bass alongside a band of drums, guitars and percussion. Her festival history includes WOMAD New Zealand, WOMADelaide, Byron Bay Bluesfest, Woodford Folk Festival and performances in Mauritius and La Reunion. She has released the albums Kreol Daughter and Welele, carrying rhythm, melody and her island heritage into both recorded and live work. On stage, the music is built for movement, with percussion and bass giving the songs a strong physical pulse while Grace's voice leads the performance.
