GypsyLou and The Kingfishers

GypsyLou and The Kingfishers is a Perth 5 piece playing melodic pop-folk with Celtic and traditional folk threads. Singer-songwriters Carrie Lee and Katie McMahon formed the original GypsyLou duo in 2016 after meeting in the alto section of a choir. Their shared interest in harmony became the base for the larger group. Matt Stapleton adds fiddle, Ross Daglish plays double bass and J.D. Donoghue handles percussion. Three-part vocals sit at the centre of the sound, supported by acoustic textures and rhythms made for dancing as well as listening. The result is a fuller extension of the duo's folk writing, built for audiences that enjoy warm ensemble playing and songs with a strong communal feel.
