Havana

Cha-cha, rumba, mambo and salsa, the rhythms that came out of Havana when African and Spanish music met there in the 50s and 60s. This Brisbane band works that ground and then keeps going, into Colombian cumbia, merengue for the conga line, and Argentine tango. Dimi arranges and composes, folding newer styles into the older ones. The line-up runs guitar, keys, Latin percussion, sax, trumpet and vocals, and comes as a three piece, a five piece, or a six piece with a dancer. There's a roving format too, if you'd rather the music moved through the room than stayed on a stage. Weddings, themed nights and corporate functions are the usual work.
