Helen Russell

Helen Russell spent years as the bass player behind a long list of Brisbane band leaders, and more recently she's stepped up to the microphone with a set of quirky, sweet jazz standards. The band works as a trio or a quartet with saxophone. She also leads the Good Bait Trio and Rose Pedal Saloon, a quartet featuring Michel Rose on pedal steel. A sideman's instincts applied to fronting a band makes for a generous kind of bandleader.
