The Merchants gives pop and dance songs a jazz treatment. The Sydney act can begin with a quartet of vocals, guitar, double bass and saxophone, or expand to a sixteen-piece big band. Music associated with Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha Franklin informs the repertoire. Those different sizes let the group move from cocktail music to a full dance programme.
