J4A OR JAZZ FOR ALL!

Jazz singer Libby Hammer joins four Perth jazz musicians for J4A, or Jazz for All, an interactive introduction to the music for children and families. Music education specialist Neil Barclay produces the cushion concert. Young audience members can sing, move, learn how the band’s instruments work and try making music with their bodies or everyday objects. A character called Mister Jazzcat brings another playful thread to the program, appearing with several different instruments. The performance treats listening and participation as equal parts of learning, giving children a practical first encounter with jazz.
