Janis Joplin Tribute

Pearl is a Sydney production about Janis Joplin, and it goes further than a covers set. Twenty songs carry the story of a singer who fused rock, jazz and blues into something nobody else was doing, and who shattered a fair few stereotypes along the way. Cry Baby, Me And Bobby McGee and Move Over all feature, alongside material from the album Pearl that gave the show its name. The presentation weaves the songs together with the story of her rise, so it plays as theatre with a live band rather than a tribute act with a microphone.
