APRA Songwriter of the Year in 2010 marked an early turning point for Jesse Emmanuel, a teenage songwriter who moved to the Gold Coast soon after to work as a full-time musician. Cover bands and DJ work filled the years that followed, gigging up to six nights a week for over a decade. Jesse went on to form the band Hinterland, which reached several number-one singles and a number-one EP on the country charts, and Jesse's own songwriting catalogue has amassed over 10 million streams.
