Jessica Mauboy

A run as runner-up on Australian Idol's fourth season in 2006 opened the door for Jessica Mauboy, after auditioning in Alice Springs and signing with Sony Music Australia. Her debut live album The Journey reached number four on the ARIA chart and went gold, drawing on songs she performed during the show's top twelve. Been Waiting, her debut studio album released in 2008, produced the number-one single Burn along with the Top Ten hits Because and Running Back, and went double platinum by 2010 while the album and its singles earned seven ARIA nominations in 2009; Running Back won Highest Selling Single. A second album, Get 'Em Girls, reached number six on the ARIA chart and was certified gold, spinning off the singles Saturday Night and Inescapable. Beyond music, she made her acting debut in Bran Nue Dae in 2010 and has since appeared in Underbelly: Razor and The Sapphires.
