Think BB King meeting Joe Cocker. John's voice has an old school flavour with something newer laid over it, and singing, by his own account, ranks somewhere near breathing. The feel is European swing, jazz improvisation and the working class grit of classic British and Australian blues roots rock and roll. He came out of Liverpool's Cavern Club in the early sixties with his bands The Feelgoods and The Sect, then made seventies albums including Star Spangled Banger, Fox and Boy From The Stars alongside Australian rock figure Jim Keays. Decades of refining one sound, still played live.
