Kate sings with a jazz guitar under her voice, and the pairing does something unusual to the material she picks. Cole Porter and Duke Ellington standards get pulled forward into a contemporary setting. Then 1980s gothic pop, from The Cure to Madonna, gets pulled the other way into swing. It shouldn't work as neatly as it does. She usually plays solo, but is also available as a duo, trio or quartet with piano, trumpet, sax, bass or drums added.
