Four Dolphin Awards sit behind Leigh James, one each across funk, pop, gospel and country, and there are about as many original CDs to go with them. Forty years of work on the NSW north coast will do that. He's played Woodford and Tamworth, and plenty of pubs, clubs and cruise ship rooms in between. You can hear James Taylor and Donald Fagen in the phrasing, with a bit of Michael Franks in the smoother moments. It's a broad songbook from someone who has had time to build one, and a Byron Bay base that keeps him close to the festival circuit.
