Los Chasquis

The name means the messengers in Quechua, the language of the Incas across the highlands of Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador and Argentina. Los Chasquis play music that carries that country in it, haunting in places and driving in others, with European and African threads running through. Instruments include zamponas, quena, charango, guitar and drums, and the group both plays and sings, in Spanish, Aymara and Quechua. Usually a four piece, though a solo, duo or trio is possible. They can perform fully acoustic, with a sound system only needed for larger crowds.
