Mamie-Rose

Guitar and harmonica do most of the work here, with piano, ukulele, a stomp box and a tambourine brought out when the occasion suits. Mamie-Rose is a solo singer-songwriter based in the regional stretch outside Melbourne, playing folk and soul, both covers and her own writing, with a vintage streak running through the lot. Years spent in a church congregation left her with a real feel for gospel and worship music, which she's since worked out how to play acoustically. It's a quieter kind of set, better suited to a room where people can actually hear the words. Original material sits alongside the covers rather than being saved for the end.
