Māori and Haka Performers is a choir from Perth, Western Australia.
Ngaru Pou brings Maori song, dance, poi and haka together in performances built to entertain and to teach at the same time, explaining the customs and meaning behind each element as they go. The haka itself, a traditional war dance carrying real symbolic weight, sits at the centre of the group's repertoire. They've performed at the WA Massed Choir Festival, Waitangi Day celebrations and RugbyWA events, and picked up the 2023 Perth Royal Show's People's Choice Award. Outside performance dates the group runs workshops and educational programs for younger audiences, aiming to build cultural pride within the Maori community while introducing the wider public to the practice.
