Marsala

Marsala play music from just about everywhere. Cuba, Colombia, Brazil, Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia, Russia, France, Italy, Spain, Zimbabwe and Senegal all turn up in the set, which takes in gypsy music, tango, salsa, samba, French rap, Italian jazz, township grooves and the odd Tom Waits song. The players are working Sydney professionals with careers of their own, covering session recording, advertising work, original music, national and international touring, and film and television. Two things follow from that. The playing is precise, and the aim is emotional rather than technical: get the room feeling something, then get it dancing. Suitable for private functions, weddings and corporate events.
