Matt McMahon has been a working pianist and composer since 1993, and the awards tell the story: the National Jazz Award in 1999, the Freedman Jazz Fellowship in 2005, and appearances on several ARIA and Bell award-winning albums. He's released ten albums as leader or co-leader and appears on more than a hundred albums of original creative music. He's performed with Band of Five Names, Vince Jones, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Dale Barlow, Joseph Tawadros, Gurrumul, Bernie McGann, Katie Noonan and Sandy Evans among many others, and served as musical director for shows featuring Kate Miller-Heidke, Wendy Matthews and Ella Hooper. Visiting artists he's played with include Wynton Marsalis, Greg Osby and Sharon Shannon.
