About this act
Caves, palaces, flat bottomed boats from Florida to Lake Erie, and Arabian dhows on the Indian Ocean. This harpist has played all of them. Originally from Britain, she studied there and in the US and France, then spent years in Oman, where she taught the harpists of the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra. In Australia she performed concerti with the Darwin Symphony Orchestra and built a chamber recital series called All Things Music. She's recorded French repertoire for Virgin Records with the English Chamber Orchestra and the Allegri String Quartet, and has won a swag of prizes for her playing. Her instrument is a bright blue 47 string electro-acoustic harp called The Big Blue, which plugs straight into an amp for outdoor work. Ask her and she'll say her real strength is the lighter material: musicals, popular opera, jazz, and the odd bit of Led Zeppelin or Metallica. Now Melbourne based, solo or as a duo with violin.
