Moussa Diakite and Wassado

Moussa Diakite was born in Mali and now lives in Western Sydney, playing guitar, singing and composing music that fuses Malian, Congolese, highlife, afrobeat, Cuban, blues and jazz influences into something entirely his own. He's performed alongside Salif Keita and Toumani Diabate and played a real part in bringing African music into the western mainstream. With his band Wassado the rhythms are captivating and the melodies genuinely soulful. This is a once-in-a-generation player, and a rare thing to be able to book locally.
